Have you checked out the new First street area in Manchester yet? I say ‘new’ – it’s been there about three years!
If you have, then you’ll already know what I’m going on about, but if you haven’t, you’re in for a treat – it’s a very trendy and modern location just round the corner from the G-MEX (or Manchester Central or whatever it’s called these days) and features the brans new Home theatre/cinema complex as well as a host of classy bars and restaurants to while away the hours.
Our favourite place to eat around here is Street on 1st, which is a very swish place offering all sorts of modern flavours at reasonable prices. Whilst we love the food here, it’s more the laid-back atmosphere that draws us in, and the views back over the square are great for people watching. At Christmas, then you can watch ice-skating on a temporary rink in the square too.
Being affiliated to a plush hotel, it has a very broad menu to suit everyone, as well as a team of brilliant chefs who can pull it off: from spicy calamari and bruschetta for starters (along with a range of delicious looking salads) to everything from curry to fish and chips for mains, and a choice of nine cracking desserts! (They also have a wide-ranging cocktail menu, and a decent range of bottled beers – all tasty, though we didn’t manage to try them all…).
It’s a top class restaurant in a trendy location, and CityCard members get a whopping 20% off food and drink here. Isn’t it time you tried out Street on 1st?
