Manchester's Theatre Scene

Manchester's Theatre Scene

Did you know that two of the best theatres outside of London are based right here, in glorious Manchester?  And no, we’re not talking about Old Trafford and the Etihad!

Manchester’s Palace Theatre is one of THE go-to places for shows that tour outside of the West End, and is literally the premier theatre in the whole of the North.  All the big hitting stage shows – from Lion King to the Blues Brothers – or this week, Sunset Boulevard – with their world class actors, singers and dancers have played out on stages right here.

And the best Panto in the UK?  You’ve guessed it, it’s Manchester’s very own Panto, which is so popular that it has a run of two months, just so that everyone can see it!

But it’s not just what’s on the stages themselves that make for a brilliant night: the theatres themselves are buildings of real historic beauty, with the plush chairs, mini binoculars, and swanky bar areas all adding glamour and a real sense of occasion to any evening in the theatre.  There’s the interval ice-creams, the live orchestra’s, and the nervous excitement as you take your seats and wait for the curtains to open.

There’s always a great variety of shows on in Manchester (Check out the ATG website for details about what’s coming up) – and CityCard members get up to 50% off ticket prices and no booking fees.  Trips to the theatre aren’t as expensive as you think.
