Welcome to Manchester, Jose!

Welcome to Manchester, Jose!

Louis Van Gaal will not be sitting comfortably after yesterdays news that Roman Abramovich had gotten bored of his plaything, and decided to impatiently sack the manager.   The ‘Special one’ has been given his marching orders, and is now hot favourite – at odds of 1/1- with bookmakers to be the new manager of Manchester United.

We have a mixture of allegiances in the CityCard team, but there is resounding and unanimous support for Jose to make the short trip up North.  At the very least, it will rid us of LvG and the world’s most boring football.  It’s very disappointing when you can actually get more entertainment from watching Sunday League (or, worse, Stockport County) than from watching the Red Devils.  It’s sad when you can honestly say that Mourinho will bring your team more attacking football!

But now that the German markets are packing up for their final weekend in Manchester, what else is there that we can tempt Jose with?

Despite the presence of Ronaldo in our great city for so many years, we don’t seem to have picked up more of a Portuguese vibe – in fact, I think the most Portuguese thing I can think of is Nando’s, which is probably about as Portuguese as Café Nero is Italian, or La Tasca is Spanish.  It does an alright Peri-peri chicken though, so it might help remind Jose of home?

And then I’m struggling.  The weather certainly isn’t Portuguese (even if it is unseasonably warm at the moment), and massive sun-kissed villa’s are in short supply.  I guess we have to hope that he likes music (loads of bands play in Manchester) and shopping (Manchester is second only to London for decent shops)?
