Is there anything better in the world than football?
The sport is the only thing that unites the whole globe (over 3 billion people watched the last world cup final!), and it is possibly THE most talked about thing on the planet: whether they’re moaning about Neymar in Barcelona, Tevez in China, Ronaldinho or Beckham in the US, or Mourinho and Pep in Manchester.
But if there’s one thing better than watching and talking about football, it’s playing it! Particularly with a bunch of mates or work-colleagues (so that you’ve got bragging rights for the rest of the working week), and ideally competitively.
In Manchester, our favourite place to play is at Goals, just off the Queens Road to the North of the city centre (a stone’s throw from the Queens Street tram stop, and two minutes’ walk from Manchester Fort): it’s a place with the latest hi-tech pitches, competitive (and friendly) leagues most nights of the week – for men and women – decent changing facilities, and a bar to congregate in after the game to celebrate or commiserate!
Best of all, CityCard holders get £10 off the price of pitch hire between 5pm and 7pm midweek, which is perfect for that post-work five-a-side! Oh, and there’s free parking, so no excuses!
