The arrival of the Christmas markets in Manchester officially signals the start of the winter season – it also signals the end of temperate climates, and, coupled with the dark mornings and evenings, it means that the end of exercising outside.
Winter in Manchester is great as long as you’re wrapped up well enough to enjoy it. The temperatures aren’t great, the sky is grey, and rain is now measured in centimetre - so I don’t like to go outside in anything less than four layers and a massive duffle coat from now until the sunshine returns in May next year!
It’s definitely no time to be running or cycling around outdoors, wearing shorts and t-shirt, even less so some skimpy Lycra number – so it’s just as well that there’s some good gyms in Manchester, because otherwise I’d spend five or six months just doing nothing!
One of the CityCard team swears by the Gym Group – which have a number of gyms around our city, and which operate 24 hours a day, which means that you can still get to the gym if you’re going in early, working late, or even if you’re just struggling to sleep!
We also love the Gym Group because CityCard members get to join without a joining fee, and then pay special discounted monthly rates – check out their offer page for details.
