It’s the start of the World Cup! And along with the excited feeling that England are somehow going to do it this year, there comes a growing tingling in your legs and you want to get out there and play! (And there’s never been a better time to organise a ‘friendly’ office football game!)
If you can find a few jumpers for goalposts and get out there on the grass, then great - but sadly, the parks and grass around Manchester aren’t what they once were, and you might be hard pushed to find a decent bit of turf at this time of year.
Don’t worry, though – there’s still plenty of places you can play, and you can certainly get your fix of football. If you’re in the city centre, there’s places like ‘Goals’ which have artificial turf (which means you can play on them whatever Manchester’s weather) – with the added benefit that they have ‘proper’ goals, and areas, and they can even sort you out with a referee!
CityCard members also save £10 if they book a pitch at Goals after-work (5-7pm) – playing a game is a lot more fun (and more sociable) than organising a sweepstake or playing fantasy football, so send out an email to all the lads and ladies, challenge the management to a game, dig out your shin-pads, and let’s get it on!
