With new restaurants arriving every week, it’s almost impossible to try out all of the restaurants in Manchester (though we do try!), but often you’re so busy trying the latest new fad, that you walk straight past some real gems.
A case in point is Annie’s, a fantastic restaurant which you’ve probably bustled past dozens of times and never really noticed. Tucked away alongside the Royal Exchange in Manchester, it not only offers the best afternoon tea in Manchester (it’s won awards, and I once had not one, not two, but three of their scones here!), but also has a brilliant range of traditional, quality, real home-made food well into the evening.
Step through the doors and there’s two floors (a restaurant and a café area), a genuinely cosy atmosphere, and actual friendly staff.
Food-wise, their menu is crammed full of all your favourite hearty and wholesome meals. The hot-pot is worth an honourable mention (as you might expect given that the place is owned by a Coronation street actress), but it’s their Cheese and Onion pie is the dish which hits the spot, or they also do a decent steak, and the Halloumi salad looked impressive.
CityCard members save a whopping 25% off the main menu all week, except after 5pm on Saturdays, and we’d recommend you book ahead, as the place can get busy. Check out the CityCard Annie’s offer page.
