Week on week, the transformation of our city continues at an incredible pace.
There’s always new and exciting things happening in our city - whether it’s multi-billion pound investments to create a whole new city-sized investment area by the Chinese, the arrival of (another) stellar restaurateur in our city centre, another edgy bar in the Northern quarter, or the arrival of more businesses to the ever-growing Spinningfields (or, as I heard it called yesterday, “the financial district”).
This week sees the arrival of US tech giants Microsoft opening an office in Manchester city centre, as well as the iconic British designer Paul Smith opening his first store in the North in Manchester, and the announcement of not one but two (whoop!) new Five Guys burger restaurants in the city centre (amongst three massive retail and leisure developments). We’ve also seen the launch of McDelivery (McDonalds via UberEats) – can 2017 get any better?!
It’s all getting bigger and better, and it’s clear that Manchester will be the place to be for the foreseeable. Particularly as Amazon – the company widely regarded to be discreetly taking over the world (whilst people gawp at Facebook and Google) – already have a massive operation in the city, so that might be anothet reason to gamble on us sitting pretty for many years to come!
