If you’re after the sort of lunch or dinner that blows you away in Manchester, then look no further than glorious Rosso, at the top of King Street. It’s an upmarket bar / restaurant that doesn’t just have superb food, but live music, impeccable service, and a real feel-good vibe about it!
After opening in 2009 in a Grade II listed building, Rosso has pretty much taken Manchester by storm. There’s been numerous upmarket copy-cats in town since Rio Ferdinand cut the ribbon on his first restaurant venture, but whilst they’ve come and gone, Rosso is still doing brilliantly.
The key to all of the success has arguably been the food: Rosso serve a classic mix of Italian food which seems to please both restaurant critics and general everyday folk in equal measure – which is a lot harder than it sounds. Given its co-owner, it also, obviously, pleases local celebrities, including footballers and the like, and it really is a place to be spotted.
Everything about this place is understated extravagance - the restaurant was completely renovated and relaunched earlier this year, sprucing up the beautiful interior with crisp, clean, white lines to stay at the cutting edge of fashion. It feels so luxurious that you’d be surprised at how reasonable a meal here can cost – particularly with a CityCard.
